Bonus points policy - Spring 2025
Bonus points policy - Spring 2025
The optional tool projects use algorithms to perform practical tasks, developing working tools
that address various problems. Choosing to complete some of these projects provides the
opportunity to understand the practical importance of algorithms in (software) engineering.
Most of the necessary information is covered by the topics discussed during the lectures,
but some projects may also require additional self-study.
By completing some of the optional tool projects, you can earn bonus points.
Conversion of bonus points into grades follows these rules:
-
Bonus points are added to your exam grade, but only after you have achieved a passing grade on the exam.
You cannot use bonus points to raise your grade from a failing grade to a passing grade. This rule
is quite redundant - a student who had all the knowledge and skills to honestly implement such projects really
cannot fail the exam.
-
one bonus point adds 1 point to your final exam grade, under the condition stated above
-

award points can be cummulated, but NO more than 2 points
Project work rules:
- All the projects are individual and personal work.
If a project submitted by a student is found to be not their own work (e.g., from the internet, colleagues,
ChatGPT, etc), it is considered fraud and will result in failing the ADA exam.
Projects are optional - you do not have to complete them - but if you choose to do so, then only submit your own work!
- If you chose to do a project, then you must announce your intention and then follow up with
weekly progress reports.
Also if you have questions about the projects, you can send me a message on CampusVirtual or email at ioana.sora@cs.upt.ro
- Each project has its own hard deadline. You must submit your projects using the corresponding assignments on
the Virtual Campus. A submission must contain the source code and a readme file explaining your work.
- Students will also do a presentation of their projects
in class, with discussions and questions.
Projects will not be graded solely based on some submitted code; a
thorough discussion is required for grading! All follow-up of projects and proect grading is done by Ioana Sora.
